Winter Tournament Week
1 September 2023

The New Zealand Secondary Schools Winter Tournament Week and Rugby by The Beach took place from Monday 28 August until Friday 1 September. It was an incredible experience for our students. Thanks to all the participants, coaches, managers, staff and supporters who made these events a huge success.

Netball 
Our students showed incredible growth in confidence throughout the week and finished united as a team. They showed great attitude and sportsmanship against tough opposition We are proud of their determination and teamwork.

Basketball
Our Premier boys faces a challenging week marked by sickness and injuries, but the team demonstrated remarkable unity and peseverance. We're immensely proud of their efforts.

Additionally, our Junior A Boys' Basketball team displayed extraordinary determination and relentless effort to earn a well-deserved 5th place finish overall.

Under 14 Colts
Our U14 Colts rugy team had an incredible experience in Wellington at the Hurricanes Rugby Festival. They thrived on and off the field, forming strong bonds. The highlight of the trip was a visit to the NZCIS where they had a personal tour from TJ Perenara and witnessed what it's like to be a top-level athlete in New Zealand. 

1st XV Rugby
This team had a fantastic week of Rugby By The Beach, giving it their all and making the finals for the first time since the tournament began. The final game against Mahurangi College went down to the final whistle, unfortunately ending 5-3 in Mahurangi's favour.

Girls Rugby
Our Girls Rugby team made history by participating in an exhibition style match against Mount College at Rugby By The Beach. It was the first time for girls to play in this event, and we look forward to hosting a full Girls competition in 2024.

Hockey
Our 1st XI Boys and Girls Hockey Teams had an exciting journey to Napier for their respective tournaments. This year has been a rebuilding for both teams and and they have shown remarkable growth. Throughout the tournament they showcased outstanding hockey skills and their improvement was evident for all to see.

Badminton
Our Junior Badminton Boys created history being the first Pāpāmoa College team at the NZ Secondary Schools Badminton Championships. Out of 30 matches, they only lost 4, finishing 25th in New Zealand. Their conduct on and off the courts made them great ambassadors for the school.
