Pink Shirt Day
19 May 2023

On Friday 19 May, our College celebrated "Pink Shirt Day'. This annual event aims to raise awareness about the importance of preventing bullying and fostering a positive school environment. Staff and students came together to support the cause, engaging in various activities that highlighted the significance of promoting kindness, empathy and acceptance.

Throughout the day our college community participated in activities that not only educated but also empowered them to make a difference. Senior photography students took photos, and others watched videos to learn the history and central themes of this year's campaign. Additionally a range of engaging activities, including a colouring competition, a Pink Shirt Day quiz, and a whānau area decoration contest, further promoted inclusivity and unity.

During whānau time, compliment tear-offs were distributed, allowing individuals to share uplifting messages with their peers, and our Leos delivered fruit bursts to students wearing pink, spreading positivity and encouragement.

Pink Shirt Day serves as a platform to shed light on the issue of bullying and its detrimental effects on individuals and communities. The ultimate goal is to create a school environment where everyone feels secure, valued and free from any form of harassment.
